AMWA BERKELEY

AMWA BERKELEY

The American Medical Women’s Association at UC Berkeley

The American Medical Women's Association (AMWA), founded in 1915 by Bertha Van Hoosen, is the oldest multispecialty organization in the United States dedicated to advancing women in medicine and providing a voice for women’s health. At the national level, AMWA membership comprises physicians, residents, medical students, premedical students, healthcare professionals, and supporters. Our local AMWA branch here at the University of California, Berkeley carries the same core values of National AMWA through both our chapter-wide events and committee-specific projects. As a professional development and community service organization, AMWA Berkeley provides our members with opportunities for mentorship, volunteering, education, and camaraderie. We strive to empower young women to create a genuine impact in areas of healthcare they are passionate about as they navigate their premedical undergraduate careers.
