Hello! My name is Isabella Lassalle and I am beyond excited to be serving a second term as Program Director! I am currently a third year majoring in MCB-Neurobiology and minoring in Data Science. I originally grew up 30 minutes away in the East Bay and became involved in AMWA my second semester at Berkeley as part of the Childhood Nutrition Committee, where I worked on various advocacy projects and tabled at the downtown farmer’s market. I first joined AMWA because I wanted to find a tight knit community of women determined to uplift each other and both advance and advocate for women in medicine. As Program Director, I primarily lead all of our general meetings, coordinate chapter-wide social events, and help maintain club-wide activities as part of the Executive team. Being someone who didn’t have many resources related to medicine growing up and who felt lost finding opportunities my first semester, I pursued this position to bring exposure in medicine to all young women. Inspired by my time as Program Director, I also decided to get more involved with AMWA at the national level, where I now serve as the High School Liaison and work on the growth and facilitation of high school clubs. At Berkeley, I am also involved in the Harland lab where I work with jellyfish to study sleep patterns through both molecular processes and data analysis, and recently completed an EMT program to get more involved in the community through a clinical perspective. I have a strong background in data-based research, and I'm passionate about bridging the intersection between medicine and computation. In my free time I enjoy trying new coffee and energy drinks, being active outside, solving puzzles, and reading all types of books. Feel free to contact me with any pre-health questions, book recs, or anything else! I am thrilled to continue fostering an open and approachable environment for all pre-health students, and can’t wait to see AMWA grow!
